Here are the comments that the students submitted on their course evaluations for this class at the end of the Fall 2022 and 2023 Semesters:

  • The professor was very detailed, even down to what needed to be done at each step, and placed special emphasis on the use of Excel tools, which made the calculations much more efficient. Although I am a Chinese student, the language barrier did not make me feel particularly stressed, but on the contrary. I feel that I have improved a lot because I have really learned a lot.
  • The class website was great and the materials provided were detailed and through. Perhaps there could be a bit more time spent on theory and reasons behind how business individuals do or should use certain financial practices.
  • Professor Reese is truly a unique, one-of-a-kind, stand-out professor. Besides being an incredibly talented, dedicated teacher and mentor who connects so well and effectively with his students, he is just as good if not better as a person. I took a class with Professor Reese 22.5 years a go and he is just as kind, caring, approachable and compassionate as he was many years ago. He truly cares about his students and has caared so much throughout his entire career. His commitment to creating educational resources and learning techniques is rock solid and he is extremely patient. He gives you his time and will do whatever is necessary to help explain/teach the material to his students. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to take both his undergraduate and MBA-level classes and experience his didactics in such different periods of my life as well as different stages of Professor Reese’s remarkable and memorable career. One of the most talented professors at Tulane and a great friend to all his students.
  • Very challenging and thought-provoking but a wonderful course.
  • Dr. Reese is a great teacher.
  • Very detailed and very well structured.
  • Professor Reese is a knowledgeable, experienced instructor passionate about finance. If a student has clear aspirations to venture into a finance-related field post-graduation, this course and Professor Reese can benefit them. However, if a student does not plan on being submerged in a finance-heavy career, this course is not relevant and, frankly, a waste of time. This was a gruesome class that forced me to sit through relatively brutal 3-hour lectures in a field that I have zero interest in and has no relevance to my post-graduate plans. The tests are long and require an extensive amount of work. Professor Reese is accommodating because he provides quality videos for students to review, which I found helpful. But aside from the professor specifically, I take issue with this being a mandatory course for all PMBA students. There is no reason, in my opinion, that a course of this rigor should be required for MBA pursuants who do not have a finance track or indicate a heavy interst in finance.
  • Fantasitic class! Professor Reese is incredible, always prepared and enthusiastic about teaching!
  • Dr. Reese is an excellent professor! This was my first finance course and I enjoyed every minute of his lectures. Dr. Reese is very thorough and explains the material very well and makes sure everyone understands it. I highly recommend anyone to take Dr. Reese for any finance courses at Tulane!
  • This was my first once-a-week 3-hour class and Professor Reese actually made me enjoy it. Of course there were times where I was bored, but he structures the long class period to allow us a break. The material was difficult but Prof. Reese is great at teaching and getting the material across.
  • Dr. Reese is tough, but you will learn in his class. I had never taken a finance course before this, so it was definitely a challenge, but it was interesting. The recorded videos and practice problems really helped me study for exam/quizzes! I wish he gave us practice problems for the multiple choice questions on the midterm/final as those are what I struggled with most. I also wish he gave more written detailed feedback on quiz grades though…I felt that the points off varied a lot everytime I took one and I could not find a common denominator between all of them.
  • Prof. Reese is one of the most prepared professors I’ve had so far. He provides the notes in advance, records the classes, and has videos to prepare for the quizzes. The only thing I didn’t prefer about the course structure is there wasn’t enough class time dedicated to us trying to solve problems during class. Some of the other math courses I have taken at Freeman have gond through a concept and then provided us time to try and apply that concept to a math problem. This may just be my learning style, but it was more helpful to try the concepts in class and then use that as another tool to prep for quizzes and exams.
  • Professor Reese is a great instructor and while the coursee is challenging, he provides incredible resources and insight.
  • Prof. Reese is a great teacher. I liked this class far more than I expected. The first half of the class felt more intuitive than the second. The second hald felt like topics built on each other less. I particularly appreciated Prof. Reese’s videos.
  • While the coursework is quite challenging, I’m not sure there’s another professor out there who could make it as accessible and easily digestible as Bill Reese. Not only is Professor Reese incredibly organized, he brought such a wonderful and uplifting energy to class every day that truly made me feel I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. Thanks, Bill! You’re a real gem and Tulane is lucky to have you!
  • Dr. Reese has strong course material and lesson plans, and the structure of the course allows for independent learning. The problem sets are demonstrative, and challenging enough to learn the necessary material. On occasion, the course feels rehearsed, and that questions are eiher unwelcome or not considered to have sufficient thought behind them.
  • One of the best professors I have had, period. I’m impressed and grateful for Professor Reese for changing my initial negative impression and apprehension on the subject of Finance (from previous experience) into curiosity and new-found interst on the topic.
  • WOW! What a great professor and class! Bill Reese is one of the most organized professors I’ve had and it makes taking this class easy. The material itself can be challenging but he does a great job of making learning as easy as possible and provides so many resources to his students that there is no complaints from me!
  • There is nothing else to say than that Mr. Reese is an excellent and charismatic professor who cares about his students and teaches in a fun way.
  • Very straight-forward, organized course – if you follow what the professor says, you will succeed. Learned a lot.
  • I had sat in on this class’s first session twice and waited until I had time to really focus on it, as it was the course I was most worried about, but Prof. Reese has perfected his teaching method. I learned more about things I can use in my daily life (mortgages, credit card APRs etc.) than any other course. Although many concepts are challenging, the range of supporting material is excellent, from general concepts in the textbook (sometimes a little confusing as they can present different options/terminology than the class does) to especially the regular quizzes which really helped me ensure I understood the underlying ideas.
  • It is very rare to find a professor who conveys information as efficiently and provokes learning as well as Professor Reese. It has been a pleasure to attend his class.
  • I loved this class! Although the content itself was challenging, I knew exactly what to expect on both quizzes and tests. Professor Reese is not trying to confuse you, and he tells you exactly what you need to do to succeed. As a student, I really appreciate professors like this because I am not worried about them throwing curve balls, rather I can focus on learning the material. I also enjoyed how I could easily find all materials and videos on his website. If there was a question I had, there was more than likely a resource to answer it. Professor Reese gets a 10-/10 from me.
  • The course was very well structured. From the get-go, Professor Reese clearly established the expectations of students on the course and the amount of work that would need to be done independently and in preparation for understanding class material, perform well on tests, etc.… He was readily available to respond to any queries students had. He had notes provided ahead of time, video tutorials that students could refer to and understand how to tackle questions. In essence, he was super organized which really helps students follow the course and organize their schedule to enhance performance on the course.
  • Professor Reese challenges his students to learn and grow throughout this course. His teaching style seems strict, but he is very fair and reasonable. His notes are easy to follow, and he brings the best out of his students. I would not hesitate to take another class with Professor Reese, and I actually plan on doing so.
  • Professor Reese is fantastic. Organized, succinct, and clear. I have struggled in finance classes in the past and was apprehensive about taking this course, but Professor Reese’s teaching style made everything very straightforward. I thoroughly enjoyed this class.
  • Professor Reese was a great instructor. Going into this course with minor knowledge in Finance, I wasn’t sure how I would manage in a graduate level course. Professor Reese quickly erased these concerns as he very effectively taught every aspect of the course in class and made it easy to follow along and learn the material. I really enjoyed the course and thought it was unbelievably valuable.
  • Thought the course was well structured and extremely fair. No hidden surprises or off the wall questions. Loved professor Reese’s energy in class and his quick responses to emails and timely submission of grades to the class.
  • Phenomenal class experience
  • Reese is a very inspiring individual who cares deeply about the learning and well-being of his students. This is an extremely well-taught class.
  • Everything that was asked of you was mad very clear and any points that people lost were fair to be taken away.
  • Excellent course. The only thing I would ask for is more example questions and solutions.
  • Very good instructor and explains complex problems well.
  • This course was FANTASTIC. I learned so much and am pleased knowing I can take away everything I’ve learned and apply it in the real world. Overall, the course structure was exceptionally well organized, and I did not need to fish for any material. I enjoyed the website layout. Also, Professor Bill Reese is a gifted teacher. I’m honored to have had him as a professor.
  • Excellent class. In fact, the teaching helped me to build a comprehensive understanding of Financial Management and their use in management context. The class was very detailed and organized and the instructor was BEST – very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions as they came up. Professor William Reese was extremely helpful in delivering the subject by integrating real world examples and explaining difficult concepts in simple terms. More importantly, he was able to give tangible examples and tie them to the coursework based on his own vast experiences. I really enjoyed the course overall and would highly recommend to other people.
  • There are teachers, and then there are professors. Bill Reese is the kind of professor you remember for the rest of your life and leaves you with a feeling of wonderment. I’m pretty nervous for his upcoming exam – but I cannot say that Dr. Reese did not do everything in his power to make me prepared for it.
